State Testing and the Keystone Exams
Keystone Exams
In July 2012, the State Board adopted PA Common Core Standards in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Reading and Writing in History, Social Studies and Technical Subjects. These new standards mirror the rigor of the Common Core, but also retain the PA Academic Standards. These standards can be found at PDE's website: http://pdesas.org.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has initiated a state assessment transition plan in order to address the curriculum changes required by the adoption of the PA Common Core Standards. All 11th grade students will take the Keystone Exams in Algebra I, Literature, and Biology during the 2012-13 school year. The PSSA's will no longer be given to Grade 11.
